On May 7, 2011 the psychedelic rock band the Meat Puppets and dub rock band Slightly Stoopid stopped in to The Pageant.

The concert opened with the Meat Puppets performing in front of a crowded house, enveloping the audience in their bluesy sounds and veteran stage presence.

Seasoned in their performance, the Meat Puppets maintained the audience’s interest as they proved highly technical in their instrumental abilities, even impressing the large youthful presence that were largely unfamiliar with many of their songs.  Upon the performance of “Backwater”, a sense of recognition became apparent, as the sounds of the audience singing along could be heard.  The set overall was a complex instrumental mix, which included an appearance by C-Money of Slightly Stoopid.  At completion, the Meat Puppets left a room full of smiles and amped up the crowd for the headliner, Slightly Stoopid.

Slightly Stoopid took to the stage with a dark ambience while strumming their funk beats to a receptive audience.  Front men Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald wasted little time pulling their loyal fans into the groove.  Miles could be seen waving over the crowd as he’d lean in to get closer.  This performance felt similar to a very large melting pot of friends at a jam sesson.  The audience could be seen flowing to the jams, crowd surfing, and enjoying themselves.  There was even an appearance by a green gorilla.

At set’s end, the crowd stayed and chanted for more.  The room filled with individuals holding their lighters in hopes of sparking an encore.

The band returned to stage and the delighted, intoxicated and euphoric crowd just could not get enough.  Performance-wise, the entirety of the set was reminiscent of what one might have expected to see at a Bob Marley or Phish performance, an easy, carefree, happy night for all those who were on hand.
