Revence at Cicero’s, July 29, 2011
Revence was one of four bands that performed at Cicero’s on July 29, 2011. They are a four-piece rock band along the lines of acts like Nickelback, Matchbox Twenty, Theory Of A Dead Man and Cavo. Vocalist and guitar player Nathan Howard strives to take you to a new place with every song. Along with his driving vocals and somewhat complex guitar work, he creates a tonal foundation for the band to build upon. Along with Nathan, Brian Parmenter is also a founding member of the band; he is the lead guitarist. He has a wide range of styles and influences from classical to blues, even Americana to metal. His additions add to their intensity and give more depth to their sound. According to the band, bassist Matt Kury has been called “the marbles” of the group. He has aVictor Wooten kind of style when he slaps his bass. In addition, I noticed that he brings an energy to the band’s live show. You would have to see it to believe it. Drummer Dustin Holst has a dynamic presence and syncopates the rhythms with a style all his own. He comes to throw down.
Revence is touring the midwest in promotion of their self-titled, debut release, set to be released in late August. They will perform at the first annual Rock U Fest that will take place at the Atomic Cowboy. The event promotes unity in the St. Louis area rock scene. It will feature three stages of rock of many genres and is an all-ages show. For more information on Revence and the Rock U Fest, please visit the links below.
